  1. 6:15 AM Pickup from Delhi hotel, transfer to Hazrat Nizamuddin station

An early pickup gets you to the station with time to spare. The train leaves from Hazrat Nizamuddin, not New Delhi Railway Station — a common mix-up for first-time visitors.

  2. 8:10 AM Gatimaan Express departs Hazrat Nizamuddin

India's first semi-high-speed train. Your Executive Class seats are booked. It's Indian Railways' regular scheduled service, so you'll be seated among other passengers on the train.

  3. 9:50 AM Arrive Agra Cantt, meet your private guide

Roughly 188 km in 1 hour 40 minutes. Your private guide and air-conditioned vehicle meet you at the station and take over from here.

  4. 10:30 AM Taj Mahal guided tour

Your guide handles skip-the-line entry support and paces the visit properly rather than rushing to catch the return train. Entry (₹1,100 complex entry plus ₹200 for the main mausoleum chamber) is included and booked for you.

  5. 1:00 PM Lunch

    Meals aren't included.

  6. 2:00 PM Agra Fort

The Mughal-era fortress Akbar built. Your entry ticket is included and booked.

  7. 4:00 PM Transfer back to Agra Cantt station

Your private vehicle takes you back to Agra Cantt for the return train.

  8. 5:50 PM Gatimaan Express departs Agra Cantt

The return leg in Executive Class, back to Hazrat Nizamuddin around 7:30 PM.

  9. 7:30 PM Arrive at Hazrat Nizamuddin, drop-off at Delhi hotel

Your station-to-hotel transfer is included — home the same evening, no overnight stay.

About this tour

Gatimaan Express is India's first semi-high-speed train, running Hazrat Nizamuddin (Delhi) to Agra Cantt in 1 hour 40 minutes. This tour books your Executive Class seats, meets you at Agra Cantt with a private guide and vehicle, and has you back in Delhi the same evening — a same-day Taj Mahal trip that swaps a 3-4 hour highway drive each way for a rail journey under two hours. The train departs Hazrat Nizamuddin — not New Delhi Railway Station, a common mix-up for first-time visitors — at 8:10 AM and arrives Agra Cantt at 9:50 AM, covering roughly 188 km. Your day starts with an early pickup from your Delhi hotel to get you to Hazrat Nizamuddin with time to spare before departure. In Agra, your private guide meets you at Cantt station and takes over from there: Taj Mahal first, then Agra Fort, with lunch in between. The return train leaves Agra Cantt around 5:50 PM and reaches Hazrat Nizamuddin around 7:30 PM, with drop-off at your Delhi hotel shortly after. At the Taj Mahal, your guide handles skip-the-line entry support and paces the visit properly rather than rushing to catch the return train. From there it's on to Agra Fort, the Mughal-era fortress Akbar built — open every day including Fridays, unlike the Taj Mahal itself (see below). Round-trip Gatimaan Express Executive Class tickets, a private guide, a private air-conditioned vehicle for all local transport in Agra, and Taj Mahal and Agra Fort entry tickets are included in the price. IWIS Global books the train tickets and both monument tickets on your behalf, so there's nothing to queue for or book separately once your date is confirmed. If you were buying entry yourself: a foreign tourist pays ₹1,100 for Taj Mahal complex entry plus a separate ₹200 for the main mausoleum chamber — ₹1,300 total — and ₹600 for Agra Fort (ASI's rate after visiting the Taj Mahal the same day). Gatimaan Express fares are separate from monument tickets and run roughly ₹690 (Chair Car) to ₹1,365 (Executive Class) one-way per Indian Railways' published fare structure, though IRCTC's dynamic pricing means the exact fare on any given date can vary. All of it — train tickets included — is folded into this tour's price. This costs more per person than our Delhi to Agra Same-Day Taj Mahal Tour by Car, which uses a private car for the full Delhi-Agra-Delhi drive. The reason is straightforward: a private car's cost is shared across everyone in the group, but train seats are priced per person and don't get cheaper in a larger group the way a shared vehicle does. What you're getting instead is the train experience itself — a faster, more comfortable way to cover the Delhi-Agra distance than a highway drive. This is for travelers who want the novelty and speed of India's first semi-high-speed train alongside a proper same-day Taj Mahal and Agra Fort visit, without spending most of the day inside a car. If a private vehicle door-to-door matters more to you than the train experience, our Delhi to Agra Same-Day Taj Mahal Tour by Car covers the same two monuments by road instead. Planning the train side yourself? See our Gatimaan Express timetable, fares and booking guide and the step-by-step guide to the train from Delhi to Agra.

Good to know

  • Know before you go: Gatimaan Express doesn't run on Fridays, which works out fine here since the Taj Mahal is also closed every Friday — so this tour simply isn't offered for a Friday departure. The train itself is Indian Railways' regular scheduled service, not a private charter, so you'll be seated among other passengers for the Delhi-Agra legs; the Agra sightseeing is private, with just your own guide and vehicle. Photography is not allowed inside the Taj Mahal's main mausoleum chamber, and tripods aren't permitted anywhere on the grounds.
