1. Day 1 · Pickup Hotel or airport pickup in Delhi

   Your driver and English-speaking guide meet you at your Delhi hotel or the airport in a private air-conditioned car. Bottled water, parking, fuel and tolls are included for the whole trip.

2. Day 1 · Old Delhi Jama Masjid, Red Fort and Chandni Chowk

   See Jama Masjid, one of India's largest mosques, and the Red Fort, the Mughal palace-fortress, then explore the lanes of Chandni Chowk, with an optional rickshaw ride (paid on the spot).

3. Day 1 · New Delhi Qutub Minar, India Gate and Humayun's Tomb

   After lunch (not included), visit Qutub Minar, India Gate and Rashtrapati Bhavan, then Humayun's Tomb, the garden tomb whose design influenced later Mughal monuments.

4. Day 1 · Drive Delhi to Agra and hotel check-in

   Drive to Agra on the Yamuna Expressway, about three and a half hours, and check in to your hotel for the night, with breakfast included.

5. Day 2 · Taj Mahal Sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal

   The Taj Mahal opens 30 minutes before sunrise, and the first hour is the quietest. Your guide tells the story of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays.

6. Day 2 · Agra Fort Breakfast, then Agra Fort

   Return to the hotel for breakfast, then visit Agra Fort, the red sandstone fortress and main residence of the Mughal emperors, with its Diwan-i-Am and Diwan-i-Khas halls.

7. Day 2 · Fatehpur Sikri Fatehpur Sikri on the way to Jaipur

   Stop at Akbar's abandoned capital to see Buland Darwaza, one of the tallest gateways in the world, the Panch Mahal and the Tomb of Salim Chishti.

8. Day 2 · Jaipur Arrive in Jaipur and hotel check-in

   Drive on to Jaipur, the Pink City, and check in to your hotel for the night, with breakfast included.

9. Day 3 · Amber Fort Amber Fort

   Visit the hilltop Amber Fort with its courtyards, palaces and Sheesh Mahal (Hall of Mirrors). Walk up, or take an optional jeep ride (paid on the spot).

10. Day 3 · Jaipur City Palace, Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal

    See the City Palace, a royal residence and museum, Jantar Mantar, the UNESCO-listed 18th-century observatory, and the honeycomb facade of Hawa Mahal.

11. Day 3 · Bazaars Jaipur bazaars

    Free time in Johari Bazaar or Bapu Bazaar for textiles, jewellery and handicrafts. Any shop stop is your choice, and we take no commission.

12. Day 4 · Morning Free morning in Jaipur

    Time to shop, revisit a favourite place or see something you missed. Check out and set off after lunch.

13. Day 4 · Return Drive back to Delhi and drop-off

    Drive back to Delhi, about five hours, with drop-off at your hotel or the airport. Lunch and dinner are not included.

About this tour

• Hotels and meals: Three nights in 3-star hotels, one in Agra and two in Jaipur, with breakfast. Lunch and dinner are not included. Add the 4-star upgrade at checkout to stay in 4-star hotels instead.
• Who it suits: Couples and families who want the classic route with time to enjoy Jaipur instead of racing through it. For a shorter trip see the 3 day tour, and for an extra night in Delhi at the end see the 5 day tour. Before you go: The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays and you visit it on day two, so this tour cannot start on a Thursday. Drones, tripods and food are not allowed inside the Taj Mahal.
