Taj Mahal Ticket Price 2026: The Full Cost
By IWIS Global · Published 21 September 2026 · Updated 29 October 2026
Foreign tourists pay ₹1,100 for Taj Mahal complex entry, plus a separate ₹200 ticket to enter the main mausoleum chamber — ₹1,300 total per adult. Indian nationals pay ₹50 (complex) + ₹200 (mausoleum); SAARC/BIMSTEC nationals pay ₹540 + ₹200. Children under 15 enter free, for both tickets. Why most answers stop at ₹1,100
₹1,100 is the price of complex entry — the gardens, the reflecting pool, the view of the monument from outside. It does not include the inner chamber beneath the central dome, where the cenotaphs of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal actually are. That’s a separate ₹200 ticket, bought at a counter inside the complex. Most quick-answer sources (including AI Overviews summarizing older listings) quote the complex-entry figure alone and stop there, which understates what a visitor who wants to see the tomb chamber actually pays.
The full cost stack (foreign tourist, 2026)
| Item | Price (₹) | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Complex entry | 1,100 | Yes |
| Main mausoleum ticket | 200 | Optional, but most visitors want it |
| Total for full visit | 1,300 |
Indian nationals: ₹50 + ₹200 = ₹250. SAARC/BIMSTEC nationals: ₹540 + ₹200 = ₹740. Children under 15: free on both tickets, all nationalities.
What’s included in the foreign-tourist ticket
The ₹1,100 entry ticket bundles in a few things that aren’t obvious from the price alone, per ASI’s ticketing and Dos and Don’ts pages:
- Shoe covers
- A half-litre bottle of water
- A tourist guide map of Agra
- Battery bus and golf cart services
ASI’s Dos and Don’ts page says SAARC and BIMSTEC tickets include the same. Separately, shoe racks just below the main mausoleum are free for every visitor, whatever their ticket.
Online vs. counter: is there a price difference?
A small one. ASI’s visiting-hours page says tourists who buy tickets online get a discount of ₹50 per foreign ticket (₹5 per Indian ticket). Tickets are sold online through asiagracircle.in and tajmahal.gov.in, and at the monument’s West and East gate counters (1 hour before sunrise to 45 minutes before sunset); the South gate is exit-only for now. Foreign and domestic visitors queue separately, with signs. ASI’s page lists no extra online service fee, so if an operator adds one, it is that operator’s own markup.
What this means for booking a tour
When a tour price is advertised as “all-inclusive,” ask specifically whether that includes the ₹200 mausoleum ticket — it’s the single most common gap between what’s quoted and what a visitor actually pays at the gate. On IWIS Global’s own tours, the Delhi to Agra Same-Day Taj Mahal Tour by Car, the Taj Mahal Day Tour from Delhi by Gatimaan Express and the Taj Mahal Luxury Car Tour include the full ₹1,300 Taj Mahal entry (complex + mausoleum) and the Agra Fort ticket in the tour price; on the Taj Mahal Sunrise Tour, Taj entry is an optional ₹1,300-per-person add-on at checkout, so you can buy tickets yourself at the gate instead.
